Style Notes | Erin Framel

A gorgeous sunny day in New York, deserves a gorgeous sunny post.  Today we feature Erin Framel for our Style Series, the classically glamourous, behind-the-scenes Boss ( and sister ) to the style house and editorial site The Glamourai

She's a busy young lady ~ from editorial meetings, working with PR houses to styling, she's behind every moment, making it happen. I've been inspired watching her professional New York journey and how it has evolved her sartorial choices. I love her new depth, but she will always be the red lipped-low chignon-diamond dangles-a-line dress-structured pill-box purse-classy Texas girl to me.

So here's how Erin wore her Primary leathers ~ she's kept those red lips, added a touch of day-glam with this layered chiffon Nicole Miller top / Adrienne Landau fur scarf and made it all business with her new lady briefcase from Coach. I love this bad-ass side of her! Thoughs? And no, we didn't shoot this today, if you notice the frozen fountain behind Erin...Thankfully that's all behind us now ~ to Spring!

Thanks Erin!

Style Notes | Christina Caradona

The polar vortex has calmed down in New York but what are you wearing for this transitional period? I love how Christina Caradona put this together.  Simple, casual and chic.

[ Christina wears // primary cape // merino turtleneck // and leather zip leggings ~ ALL PRIMARY // shoes + jewelry Christina's own ] photographed by Scott Brasher

These merino wool, textured sleeves were inspired by tire treads ( from our FW13 moto collection ) I love how Scott captures this detail...

This double-lapel, hidden zipper Akasha cape and zipper leather leggings are on heavy rotation in my closet right now, and will be coming along to the hamptons tonight ~ wishing you all a beautiful weekend!

I ♥ New York

I teamed up with Century 21, Caravan Stylist Studios and 31 other designers including Nanette Lepore, Walter Baker, and Shoshanna to reimagine the iconic "I  ♥ NY tee", an initiative to support Save the Garment Center, a non-profit organization that aims to preserve New York's Garment District and support factories, suppliers and designers through education and advocacy.

[ Christina Caradona wears PRIMARY'S one-of-a-kind "I ♥ New York" leather and python tee ~  on sale at Century 21 tonight at 5:30pm EST for $100! all proceeds benefit, The Save the Garment Center Foundation // worn with Primary's Lex skirt

This was a fun project to reinterpret the classic, I ♥ NY tee, since at Primary my design aesthetic is basically, reinvented classics. Of course, my instinct was to elevate it to a luxe fashion piece, so I recut the body in leather, added a python heart and finished with a zipper up the back.  I loved the shiny texture of the lettering and trademark, so we kept that from the original tee.

>>> Come celebrate with us and check out all 32 designs tonight! <<<

About Save The Garment Center
STGC promotes fashion companies and brands who design and produce quality clothing in the Garment District and in New York City. There are 24,000 apparel manufacturing jobs in New York City that make this domestic clothing production possible, and STGC creates transparent access to all of these resources for the future designers of America. These resources enable new fashion entrepreneurs to start a business and a fashion line leading to the creation of American jobs. Whether you are an established or emerging designer, a consumer, a fashion junkie, or simply a concerned American citizen, we ask you to join us in supporting New York’s Garment Center. As a non-profit organization, we support factories, suppliers, and designers through education and advocacy. We are ambassadors to all programs that support and create awareness for our members. There is no other Garment Center in the world like ours. The Garment Center is the soul of Midtown Manhattan, and the backbone of the NYC fashion industry. www.savethegarmentcenter.org

fracture [ of a photograph ]

So much beauty in those in-between moments. These fragmented photographs sit between the first of our new campaign images, shot out east in the Hamptons.  Sometimes I just love a stripped down simplicity, and with this location it just worked. She had such dainty gold rings and bar earrings that you would need a zoom lens to see them, my go-to hamptons tote, socks and the tulpa coat....A coat I have been thinking about a lot lately as I reimagine this shape for our FW14 collection...

Street Style | Nike Free's

We spotted Nike Free's everywhere during New York Fashion Week.  I personally love the trend, it's fresh and conducive for longs days spent hitting the pavement in New York.  So far I've kept my actual Nike Free's for the gym, and gotten 2 pairs of slip-on sneakers. A python-print pair (obviously) and a pair of classic checkered Vans (a la Caroline de Maigret ).  The sneaker look, but not a full-out running shoe, like how we shot our Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook... but now am tempted to get a running shoe w a pop of color..

What's your take? Have you taken gym shoes to the streets?

Channeling Jackie-O

Just found these old test shots from right-after our Spring/Summer '13 New York Fashion Week presentation of our model channeling Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whose leisure and vacation style served as inspiration to Kelly Framel's dressing of our show.  The model had a startling resemblance to the late fashion icon and had a face that light up entirely when she smiled...

The last dress never made it to production, but you can find the top two looks [ on sale, here ]

Style Notes

For me, there's nothing more exciting than a girl wears a one of my designs in a completely fresh way. Thats why I began Primary, to be that essential piece in your wardrobe that you style and make your own.  In this case, this is not your average girl, but stylist / chic maven extraordinaire of the uber popular blog The Glamourai.  She's approaching her 5 year anniversary of the blog! A huge congratulations to Kelly!

Here she's taken the Primary Torus Tunic, and worn it backwards, paired with skinny jeans.  I know, genius right??! Just another creative idea that will pop into her head during a shoot, and make the look. Just like the oxford wrapped around the waist in this primary campaign

SS13 | behind the scenes

We had beautiful girls, an amazing team and perfect lighting ~ so I guess the fact that I captured these on my Canon G9 on auto setting, wasn't all luck.

Kelly and I, kept playing around with the ideas of friends dressing alike, which is 'big' right now, but for me, brought back a time when my best friends were everything in this world. We shared closets and secrets and skipped school and yes, were all-round crazy bad girls. Everyone must explore their dark side in their youth, and while we touched on this theme for spring, you'll see the full scope of the idea in my FW13 collection for primary.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?"

street style [ primary oxford ]

Love how Kelly wore our Classic Oxford during the NYFW S/S13 shows. And how insane is that Bodhi bag!?? I remember this outfit well, just after this 9AM show at Lincoln Center, she jetted down to our spring/summer presentation in soho to put the finishing touches on our show styling!

A New York Bond

We celebrated the launch of our Fall/Winter 12 film 'in search of'[watch it here] with a little soiree at Dagny + Barstow on Bowery.
Was loads of fun to celebrate this in New York, with a group of friends that has truly become family to me. It's what happens when you all come from different parts of the country, or world, and leave everything behind for the full pursuit and love of creativity and creation. You make intense bonds over this, and I am extremely fortunate to be surrounded by such incredible talents. (Editors Note: Swales! You were dearly missed!)
ALSO some of our primary 'muses' came, including Li Ming and Katya, the stars of the film, and my forever-favorite cool girl Christina Caradona.
Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate with us!! I am very wordy on this post, as we are continuing to suffer through Sandy, so am feeling quite sentimental at the moment.

[PS, slow and late posts, due to the process of moving this blog over to our REAL site! ]
